this morning. we're cutting the ribbon on autumn. it's cooled down a lot. dry air all the way from canada is in place this morning. and it's cool. weather watchers reporting in, thanks for checking in, greatly appreciate your faithful report. right now it's in the 50s in most locations in the shenandoah valley, the blue ridge of virginia, and much of western maryland. and far western maryland, the mountains of west virginia, only in the 40s. south and east, weather watchers reporting around the bay right near the waters in the upper 60s, but away from the waters, only near 60 there. and a cool weather pattern will be with us for the next several days as the canadian high pressures has moved in and is in place this morning and will be here into saturday. we'll have highs today reaching the upper 70s to near 80. winds should increase a bit, too, with sunshine. sunny again tomorrow with highs in the southwest and another cool morning, cool again saturday morning, increasing clouds saturday with a high near 80. finally much needed rain on sunday. looks like it will dry out for the n. time for

'rfeeli some of that chill here wh hi presse pushing down from eastern canada through the mid atlantic states. clear sky. plenty of sun. it should get us up to near 80 by afternoon. and then cool tonight. not as chilly as this morning. warming up with a southwesterly breeze. it will keep it on the summery side. jerry, how is the traffic? >> we continue to follow breaking news where the accidt remains two right lanes remain closed. all this occurred on the inner loop of the beltway between i-66 and route 7. two left lanes get by. it's jammed leaving springfield all the way up. unfortunatel there is no shoulder because that's part of the construction zone there. we have to wait for the tow trucks to get there. can't move the cars out until the tow trucks arrive a pull them out completely. be forewarned. from springfield to 66 it is a nightmare. over on 66, because of the location of t accident, making for an extremely difficult merge coming in on 66 trying to get on to or beyond the capital beltwy. 66 delays begin centerville most of the way in. that, too, is a parking lot. drop down route 50.

is now in a new york jail. authorities say they picked him up trying to cross into canada from new york state. police say the # 2-year-old assaulted that little girl at the mini land day care and fled when an arrest warrant was issued. he is expected to be extradited to fairfax county sometime in the next couple of weeks. -- police say the 22-year-old assaulted that little girl. >>> word that actor tony curtis has died. that is according to entertainment tonight which says his daughter, jamie lee curtis confirmed her father's passing. it is unclear exactly when this happened. he received an oscar nomination in 1959 for his role in the movie the defiant ones. tony curtis was 85 years old. >>> we continue to follow today's severe weather here in our area. we'll get an update on the blows mexico is taking from mother nature. another deadly landslide has rescuers working. >>> what fellow classmates did that police think pushed a teenager over the edge.  >>> another deadly mudslide in mexico last night. this one killed 16 people and injured 13. heavy rains have soaked the hillside of
